He stated: “The crash of a helicopter that killed six people… strikes one as a tragedy that may have been avoided given the known weather conditions at that time.”

The crash, which claimed the lives of Wigwe, his family, and other prominent Nigerians, occurred amid challenging weather conditions, prompting questions about the decision to fly.

While investigations are ongoing, Clifford highlighted the importance of understanding if the crash was avoidable.

He stated: “The National Transportation Safety Board investigators will thoroughly examine all aspects… to determine the probable cause of this crash to see if it was avoidable.”

The US attorney’s remarks shed light on the need for caution and adherence to safety protocols, especially during adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, as investigations continue, condolences pour in from various quarters, with notable figures visiting the family of the deceased banker to offer their support and prayers.

The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safety measures in aviation and the need for thorough investigations to prevent future accidents.
