Jeff Bezos’ space company, Blue Origin, delayed the much-anticipated New Glenn rocket launch due to a “vehicle subsystem issue.” Initially scheduled for liftoff from Cape Canaveral at 1:00 a.m. ET, the rocket stood ready, loaded with methane and liquid oxygen propellants.
Blue Origin stated, “We’re standing down on today’s launch attempt to troubleshoot a vehicle subsystem issue that will take us beyond our launch window.” The team is reviewing the next available opportunities for the launch.

Blue Origin’s New Glenn is designed to rival SpaceX’s Falcon 9. Standing 98 meters tall, it aims to carry up to 45 tons of technology into low Earth orbit.
The rocket’s reusable booster is intended to land on a platform in the Atlantic, named after Jeff Bezos’ mother. Despite the delay, Blue Origin emphasised their commitment to moving forward. “We can’t wait to get right back here for our next launch attempt,” they assured.
Bezos’ Concerns Over Rocket Launch
In a pre-launch interview, Bezos expressed concerns about the booster landing, acknowledging potential anomalies.

“The thing we’re most nervous about is the booster landing,” he stated. He added that with any first flight, “anomaly at any mission phase” is possible, warning, “Anything could happen.”

Despite being competitors, Elon Musk, SpaceX founder, wished Blue Origin luck for the New Glenn launch. Using his X platform, Musk said, “Good luck.”
