Meanwhile, Nasarawa United and Rivers United have been summoned to participate in a formal inquest following a series of troubling incidents that took place during their matchday 18 fixture at the Lafia City Stadium last Sunday. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with Rivers United reportedly facing physical attacks afterwards by a yet to be identified individuals.
The ugly incident had prompted NPFL to open up enquiry with a view to determining what actually happend so as to employ the hammer if necessary.
Recall that the NPFL was very strict in dishing out punishment over misconduct last season.
Head of Operations of the League Management Board Davidson Owumi in a chat with Primebusiness.africa, re-affirmed the league resolve to stamp out misconduct in the league adding that clubs that fall foul of the rules will not be spared.
“Clubs that fall foul of the rules of course will be punished but for those who play by the rules, there is nothing to worry about” he said while responding to a question as to whether the league board will continue to Wield the big stick this season.
