Super Mario Bros. The Movie

In 1993, the live-action adaptation of Nintendo’s popular video game franchise, Super Mario Bros., was a critical and commercial failure, causing Nintendo to become hesitant about licensing its intellectual properties for film adaptations.

The film features an origin story for the Mario brothers, Luigi and Mario, Italian-American plumbers who are transported to an alternate world and become entangled in a battle between the Mushroom Kingdom, led by Princess Peach, and the Koopas, led by Bowser. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and written by Matthew Fogel, the ensemble voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen.

Air

Air, a 2023 American biographical sports drama film directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery, is based on true events about the origin of Air Jordan, a basketball shoe line, of which a Nike employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie player Michael Jordan. The film stars Matt Damon, Affleck, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis. Affleck also produces the film alongside Damon through their newly-formed production company, Artists Equity.

Domitilla

In Nigeria, 27 years after the release of the original Domitilla movie, the sequel, Domitilla: The Reboot, will be released on 1 April. The original film tells the story of a young woman named Domitilla, who is forced into prostitution by her manipulative boyfriend, while the sequel revolves around four main female characters, Ekwutosi, Fisayo, Promise, and Madam Vee, and the choices they make and the effects of their choices. ‘Domitilla:

The Reboot’ features top movie stars, including Elvina Ibru, Onyinye Ojokoro, Teniola Aladese, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Ejiro Onojaife, Chioma Okafor, Deyemi Okanlawon, Stan Nze, and Iyabo Ojo.

John Wick: Chapter 4

In New York City, John Wick prepares to exact revenge against the High Table while hiding underground with the Bowery King. He travels to Morocco and kills the Elder, the “one who sits above the Table”. In response, the Marquis Vincent de Gramont, a member of the High Table, summons New York Continental hotel manager Winston and his concierge, Charon.

De Gramont explains that the High Table has given him unlimited resources to find and kill John Wick. He chastises Winston for his failure to assassinate John. As punishment, De Gramont strips Winston of his duties as manager, declares him “excommunicado”, destroys the Continental, and executes Charon. De Gramont then travels to Paris and enlists Caine – a blind, retired High Table assassin – to kill his old friend John, threatening to murder Caine’s daughter otherwise.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

The 2023 fantasy heist film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, is based on the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons and is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. The film has no connections to the film trilogy released between 2000 and 2012 and features an ensemble cast, including Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Chloe Coleman, and Daisy Ridley.
