“I like what I am seeing in the camp here in Seville, It has been a very productive camp for us, we have worked hard and the confidence level is good coming out of the world cup and knowing that we can play against the best teams in the world” he enthused.

Waldrum who will be hoping to make a major impact at the Paris Games after Nigeria failed to qualify on three occasions, said the good thing about building a national team is that you have a blend of old and new players who partner for better results. Waldrum while x-raying the team said it is natural to miss players due to injury but that the mentality is always to have someone else step up once that happens.

On the benefits of today’s friendly against Canada, Waldrum said he will use the game to try out a new combination of players.

“We are expecting a great game, the players have worked extremely hard, unfortunately, few players came into the camp a little bit late but the level has been extremely high,”.

“The players are focused and looking forward to the Olympics. The friendly will allow us to work on a couple of things that we have practised so far in training.

“It will also help us see some players, to look for the best combinations ahead of our opening game against Brazil.

“I think everyone is ready. The players are tired of playing against each other. They are ready to face a good team. We are all looking forward to the game against Canada.”

Team Captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, on her part said the players are in good shape and good to go. The girls according to her are excited to qualify for the Olympics, describing it as a dream come true. As a Captain she said the girls blend well and are ready to give their best at all times.

“What we have going for us is that we blend well the old and new in the team. You can’t even spot the difference between the old players and the new, every one is in good shape and we are ready and the camping has been great” she said

Falcons begin their campaign against Brazil on July 25. Falcons are not the only Africa countries that will be on parade in the female football event at the Games,  Zambia who will be enjoying back to back apperances after showcasing their talents at the last Olympic in Japan will also be on parade and have been drawn against United States, Germany and Australia.
