The management of Nigeria National League side Vandrezzer FC have announced former international Henry Makinwa as their new head coach.

The former Katsina United manager is replacing coach Tony Bolus, and has put pen to paper on an initial one year deal with the Lagos based club.

“In tandem with our commitment to pioneering a new era in club football management, as well as a focus on building a dynamic squad of elite first team players; Vandrezzer FC wishes to announce the appointment of Coach Henry Olufosoye Makinwa as her new Head Coach,” Vandrezzer wrote on their official website.

”He comes on board on an initial one year contract, and is set to infuse renewed vigor in the Champions of Lagos, to do much more in the upcoming 2021/2022 NNL season. Coach Makinwa is a renown tactician who had previously managed three NPFL teams in Nigeria.

“He is a well travelled Nigerian ex-international, with a professional playing record with top European leagues in over 11 countries like Spain, Portugal and United Kingdom.

“To his credit, Makinwa in addition to playing for our dear country Nigeria, won two League titles in Romania with Rapid Bucharest and in Egypt with AL AHLY FC Cairo. He also played in both the European Champions League and UEFA League.

“A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Coach Makinwa possesses a UEFA Pro-license and an active coaching experience of over 10 years, which won the admiration of the board; and after a rigorous interview process, emerged the most favoured candidate to lead the team into the new season.

“The forty-four years old tactician has been coach to Villanueva Castill in Spain, as has also coached Rayo Vallecano’s First team to mention a few. Makinwa resumes today with the first team in Uyo, as the team continues to prepare and perfect tactics ahead of the commencement of the 2021/2022 NNL season.”

Coach Makinwa will be assisted by Yemi Olarenwaju and the newly appointed fitness, strengthening and conditioning coach Ashley De beer, including goalkeeper coach, Patrick Udoh.
