Initially, when Harris was nominated by President Joe Biden, who pulled out of the race, Trump said he would not debate her because she was not the official candidate then. Trump had added that Harris lacked support as the former president, Barack Obama, was yet to endorse her. However, Obama expressed his support a day later.
Prime Business Africa had reported that Harris, who is the current U.S. vice president, emerged candidate of the Democratic Party on Friday.
Fox News had earlier proposed the presidential debate between the two candidates to Harris who said she was ready.
Biden, 81, had following mounting pressure from Democrats over his age and declining political fortune, withdrew his candidacy on 15th July and nominated his vice, Harris. This has since upset the stage for Trump, who was already gaining momentum, especially after the debate where Biden performed poorly.
