Mr. Ifeloju Olusanya, an alumnus of the Department of Architecture at the University of Lagos, has been awarded the prestigious Martin Weaver Scholarship.
This was announced during the recent International Conference of the Association for Preservation Technology (APT) held in the United States.

His research work has expanded the definition of heritage, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in architectural and historic preservation research. His work highlights the cultural heritage of marginalized groups, shedding light on its significance.
During the conference, Mr. Olusanya presented his research on the cultural heritage track, titled: “Perspectives on the Potential of Heritage-led Development as an Agent of Sustainable Change in the Historic Core of Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria, Africa.” His research promises to impact heritage-led development and sustainable change positively.
The Martin Weaver Scholarship is designed to support early-career professionals in the field of Historic Preservation/Conservation. It encourages young talents like Mr. Olusanya to pursue innovative research and provides financial aid for foreign travel and academic growth.
In response to this achievement, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, OON, extended heartfelt congratulations to Olusanya on behalf of the university’s alumni, staff, and students. She expressed her best wishes for his continued success and emphasized the pride that the entire university community takes in his accomplishments.
