Prime business Africa had earlier reported that the European Union had accused Russia of weaponising gas against allies of Ukraine currently being invaded by Russia
This comes after one of the largest exporters in Russia, Gazprom, said it needs to conduct additional repairs on its pipeline after it had previously conducted repairs.
This decision continues to reduce gas supply into Europe to some 20% ahead of the coming winter, making it difficult for Europe to keep up with energy demands from its citizens.
Speaking further, the PM said she would lift the embargo on fracking in the UK to increase domestic oil supply. “It is vital that we take steps to increase our domestic energy supply,” she told Parliament. “We will end the moratorium on extracting our huge reserves of shale, which could get gas flowing as soon as six months where there is local support for it.”
Currently, a typical household’s annual energy bill is due to rise from £1,971 to £3,549 in October and experts have warned that without a relief package on Energy, lives would be at risk this winter.
The Bill from the new UK Prime Minister is already being perceived the required ‘warmth for the winter.’
