Two Reverend Sisters Kidnapped In Anambra Released

Two reverend sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ (IHM), congregation that were kidnapped in Anambra have been released after six days in captivity.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Monday, 13th January signed by IHM Secretary General, Sister Maria Sobenna Ikeotuonye.

Prime Business Africa reports that the two reverend sisters identified as Sisters Vincentia Nwankwo and Grace Okoli, were abducted on Tuesday, along the Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

They were said to have gone for a meeting in Ogboji and were returning when the abductors struck.

According to the statement, sisters Nwankwo and Okoli, were released unconditionally and are in good health.

The congregation thanked God for the safe release of the two reverend sisters and expressed appreciation to all priests, religious and lay faithful for their prayers.

The statement reads: “I bring to your notice in joy that our dear Sisters Vincentia Maria Nwankwo and Grace Mariette Okoli, who were kidnapped in the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, have been released unconditionally and in good health.

“We thank God and thank you all for your prayers and support all through these rough and uncertain days. May God forever be blessed through Mary our Mother.”
