It is no longer news that the much anticipated and talked about Victor Osimhen’s transfer from Napoli crashed like a pack of cards, as the transfer deadline doors closed on Friday night.
The Nigeria international, who up to the closing minutes of the deadline, was tipped to either head for Chelsea or Saudi Side Al-Ahli, finally ended up with no move at all, thus forcing him to remain with Napoli with his contract still running till 2026.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe former Lille forward is currently not having a very interesting relationship with Napoli, an indication that he might be frozen out this season while at Napoli.
The situation has been compounded by Napoli’s signing of Belgian Romelu Lukaku, considered an effective alternative to Osimhen.
The Italian Serie A club, did not stop there but added the signings of two Scottish midfielders, Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour.
As if that was not enough headache for Osimhen, Al-Ahli who had the biggest push to have Osimhen in the fold, equally went instead for Brentford Ivan Toney for €40 million.
Though the Saudi league transfer window remains open till 6th October, there are no indications that Al-Ahli will be ready to forge ahead with Osimhen project, with Toney already in the kitty.
The bottom line is that Osimhen will have to endure at Napoli till the next transfer window early January. So in a nutshell, and in a movie-like title, that is the story of Osimhen and his failed exit from Napoli.
