1. Nigerian Govt Begins Payment of new Minimum Wage
After several months of negotiations between the Federal Government and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Federal Government has begun payments of the new salary and its consequential adjustments to public servants across all levels of the federal civil service.

2. Naira Appreciates to N1,576 At Official Market
The Nigerian Naira on Thursday recorded appreciation for the first time in the week.
Data obtained from FMDQ Securities and Exchange platform, showed that the indicative exchange rate for Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM) appreciated to N1576.10 from the record high of N1,667.42 per dollar on Wednesday. This indicates a N91.32 gain for the naira. Read more
3. Jonathan Denies Sacking Sanusi over $49.8bn Allegations
Former Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, has denied sacking ex-Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Dr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, now Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, over his allegations that $49.8bn went missing from the government’s coffers.
The former President disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during the launch of the book, “Public Policy and Agents Interests: Perspectives from the Emerging World,” co-authored by former Minister of Finance, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, who served as Minister of Planning under his government.
4. Bobrisky: Reps Begins Probe, Suspends Prison Controllers
The House of Representatives has begun a probe on Thursday into the alleged bribery of officials of both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) by controversial cross dresser, Idris Okuneye, alias Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to prison for naira abuse.
This also comes as the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, on Thursday, also announced the suspension of two deputy controllers in charge of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos due to Bobrisky’s bribery allegations.
5. Oshiomole calls for Probe of Obaseki
Former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has called for the probe of the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki as his administration ends in about two months’ time.
Oshiomhole made this call when the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, together with his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, was presented with Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Kwara State Government has tackled former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, over his comment on the outcome of the local government elections held in the state on 21 September 2024. His comment was described as laughable and self flattering.
The State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Bolanle Olukoju, while reacting to the comments said Saraki’s PDP made fruitless efforts to frustrate conduct of the election after seeing that they were losing..

The commission revealed that in 2022 alone, over 500 software engineers and more than 2,000 trained telecom professionals left the country.
10. Nigeria Ranks first in Cassava Production, yet one of the Largest Importers
Nigeria is ranked number one in cassava production globally yet the 121st largest importer of cassava in the world as she imported about $54,200 worth of cassava in 2022.
This was disclosed at the Ist National Conference of Industrial Cassava Stakeholders Association of Nigeria (ICSAN) titled “The Golden Crop: Harnessing the Economic Potential of Cassava for National Development through Industrialization,” which held at Ikeja, Lagos.
11. Flood Claims 141 lives in 2 Months in Northern Nigeria
No fewer than 141 lives have been lost in Northern states since the flood began.
Kano, Niger, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states have recorded deaths with Kano State topping the chart with 49 deaths, followed by Yobe, 43; Borno, 26; Adamawa, 12; and Niger 11.
12. Reps Tell Dangote to Disclose Cost of Petrol
The House of Representatives has told Aliko Dangote, owner of Dangote Refinery, to disclose the cost he is selling petroleum to NNPC Limited and other major marketers.
The green Chamber has also asked the NNPCL to also disclose the amount the refinery is paying for crude oil.

Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Thursday sentenced to death, the five Offa banks’ armed robbers.
The court ordered that the convicts – Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salahudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran – should be hanged.

According to weather outlook by NiMET which was released on Wednesday in Abuja, it predicted thunderstorms over parts of Kebbi State on Thursday during the morning hours in the North.
