 1. Tinubu Approves N35,000 Wage award For FG Workers

President Bola Tinubu has approved N35,000 as a provisional wage award for all Federal Government workers for a period of six months. Malam Mohammed, minister of orientation, announced this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. Read more

 2. Kano Introduces N20,000 stipend for schoolgirls to boost enrolment

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf has announced N20,000 stipend for schoolgirls in the state to encourage them to attend school. The governor, who made the announcement on Sunday, in his Independence Day speech at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, said over 45,000 schoolgirls would benefit from the pilot programme.

He restated the commitment and determination of his administration to tackle the challenges of unemployment, poverty and youth restiveness bedeviling the country.

3. Fuel Subsidy is An Organised Crime – Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has described fuel subsidy as an organized crime. Obi, on Monday, said this while speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show ‘on what approach he would have taken differently in resolving the imminent strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

4. Gunmen Kill 9 in Plateau Attack

Nine persons were on Monday confirmed dead after gunmen attacked Adu village in Kwal District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State. The youth leader called on the government at all levels to stop further attacks in Bassa communities.

 5. Plateau Govt Warns Youths against Jungle Justice

Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Lawandi Datti, has warned youths against jungle justice and advised them to report their concerns to constituted authorities.

Datti stated this when he visited the family of the late  Fwinbe Gohe, who was gruesomely murdered by a mob in Jos on September 25

 6. Ondo NSCDC Arrest Suspected Human Traffickers

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspected human traffickers in Akure, the state capital.

Babatunde Oluwasola A.K.A Osanle who is a carpenter from Osun State but resides in Akure took three girls from Akure to Libya sometime in April 2023.

7. Katsina Varsity Suspends 6 Students Arrested For Colleague’s Death

The Federal University Dustin-Ma in Katsina State has suspended six students over the alleged murder of a 200-level student of the institution, Abubakar Nasir-Barda. The university management has since the occurrence of the unfortunate incident, been working to ensure that justice is served to all.

8. Nigeria Sets $5bn Target for Tech Startups

Nigeria has set a plan to help startups in the country raise their total yearly funding rounds to  $5 billion by 2027. DR Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy stated that the primary objective of the ministry as regards this would be to stimulate the growth and sustainability of startups with a specific focus on those developing innovative solutions for critical sectors of the economy. Read more

9. One Dies, Seven Injured In Lagos Ibadan Expressway Crash

A yet to be identified man died on Sunday in an accident involving 16 persons at the Magboro bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, while seven others were injured in the crash that occurred around 7:50 pm.

Florence Okpe, the PR officer of FRSC confirmed the accident, attributing it to speeding.

10. BUA Cement Crashes Price To N3,500

BUA Cement has reduced the price of cement to N3,500 per bag with effect from Monday, October 2 (today). This was announced in a statement released by the company’s management on Sunday.  Read more
