Tiwa Savage Reveals How Don Jazzy Saw Vision For Eminado, Dorobucci

Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress, Tiwatope Omolara Savage  better known as Tiwa Savage, has revealed how the vision  and ingenuity of star producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, aka Don Jazzy, turned Eminado and Dorobucci into instant hits.

In a reflection on her old songs, the  Afro beat and hip hop music goddess confessed that she never loved the two songs in which she featured prominently with other artists, but was pleasantly surprised to see the tracks rule the airwaves in the country and beyond upon their release.

“I hated ‘Eminado,’ but Don Jazzy insisted I release it because he understands the market. I didn’t like ‘Dorobucci’ either, yet the whole of Africa loved it”, she said

Interestingly, the fans and lovers of the 44-year-old Isale Eko born music sensation believe she was superb in her contributions to the both songs that still make waves despite being released long ago.

“Eminado” (meaning “Good Luck Charm”)  a song by Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, features vocals by Don Jazzy and was released as the seventh single from her debut studio album, Once Upon a Time (2013).

“Dorobucci” on the other hand a song recorded by The Mavins, is a collective composed of Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Di’Ja and D’Prince was released in 2014. The song raised controversy over its actually meaning but that was laid to rest after Dentist turned musician, Dr Sid, provided the answer.

“Dorobucci means a person or an individual that is awesome, amazing, rich, swagged-out, sexy and buff. Any word that qualifies greatness, that’s Dorobucci. ‘Bucci’ means anything that is amazing, fun. Doro makes Bucci a person, Doro personifies Bucci so you’re Doro, and I’m Doro. This table is Doro, anything is Doro” he had submitted.

Meanwhile, Tiwa Savage her rubbished fans debate over her position in what the dub top three in Afrobeat, where Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are commonly regarded as the ‘big 3’. Tiwa not wanting to join issues however insisted that her talent and mic skills place her at the top, even surpassing her male counterparts.

“Do not get me started because if we were to go talent for talent, mic for mic, I am the big one. If we take off the numbers, whatever it is you want to judge big 3, you cannot see me on the mic.“I am sorry, but that is what it is,” she added.
