Ever wondered why Nigerian songwriter and music producer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, prefers to go to the studio in baggy clothes in an industry where body exposure is seen as part of the showbiz?

Well, the 28-year-old record producer, in what looks like a soul-saving decision, says it is to avoid seducing the male folks, especially those who probably will miss their way if she allows body exposure.

In a chat with YouTuber and content creator, Korty EO, Tems said that her body posed a career hindrance forcing her to switch modes of dressing, especially when heading to the studio.

“I used to not always like my body. I just didn’t understand a lot of things. I was going to a lot of studios alone, meeting people I didn’t know and had never met. I’ll message people to ask them to teach me how to produce music for people”.

“So, because of my objective, which is just wanting to make music, if my being attractive is disturbing you and stopping me from achieving my goal, I am going to help you. So, when I go to the studio, I wear baggy clothes and I’m in my alpha mode because I want you not to be seduced by me.”

Tems currently has her hands full in preparation for her studio album ‘Born In The Wild’ scheduled for release on 7 June on one hand, and the world tour that will follow after that on the other.
