Tems’ ‘Found’ To Receive RIAA Plaque

In news reported by chart news platform Chart Data, Tems’ ‘Found’ has surpassed 500,000 units in sales in the United States. The single features Brent Faiyaz and it was one of the songs on her EP, ‘If Orange Was A Place’ released in 2021.

The single is now eligible for a gold certification in the US which will be Tems’ third solo certification following ‘Free Mind’ and ‘Higher’ which have both been certified gold.

Since rocketing to fame in 2020, Tems has become an international sensation who has been featured by Drake, Beyonce, and Future. She has earned platinum plaques for her contributions to Future’s ‘Wait For U’ and Wizkid’s ‘Essence’.

She is also the first Nigerian Woman to be nominated for the Emmys and Oscars for her writing on ‘Lift’ Me Up’ which is the lead soundtrack for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Tems, became the first Nigerian Woman to win a Grammy award, following her win for her vocal contribution to Future‘s hit single ‘Wait For U’.

Before stardom, the Grammy-winning singer mostly produced her own beats. she struggled with artistic conflicts with producers early in her career, along with a lack of financial resources, which prompted her to choose the independent path of self-production.

She wrote her first official song at the age of 17. At the time, the singer would infuse loads of poetry into her writings, something that is still present in her writing today.

This was also the year she decided to take her singing more seriously, as she joined the choir and began learning to play the piano.
