Swiss Gymnastics Federation (STV) has announced a ban forbidding “suggestive” pictures or images of gymnasts that are deemed provocative from being taken.
The new STV guidelines said the main goal is to prevent publications of “otherwise ethically sensitive” shots and images of the gymnast’s “crotch”.

The Federation’s statement said the ban is “To protect gymnasts; the STV strives to ensure that no suggestive or otherwise ethically sensitive photos are published and passed on. “The STV is aware that such photos can arise in action photography. However, the publication should be avoided. The main concern of the STV is to sensitise the media professionals and to let common sense prevail.”
“Pictures of gymnasts in the splits posture, which you would see on the uneven bars or balancing beam, will be prohibited, depending on the angle at which the photo was taken,” the Federation said.
