Netflix’s post-apocalyptic fantasy series “Sweet Tooth” has been renewed for a third and final season, according to an announcement by the streaming giant. The show’s creator, Jim Mickle, shared that the upcoming season will be an “Arctic story” with new and exciting adventures for the show’s protagonist, Gus.
Mickle noted that the story of “Sweet Tooth” took on a life of its own, with the characters dictating the direction of the plot. The show has been praised for its unique premise and strong character development, which has attracted a dedicated fanbase.

The show has been a hit with audiences, earning a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and drawing comparisons to popular fantasy series like “The Hunger Games.”

“Sweet Tooth” is based on a comic book series of the same name by Jeff Lemire and follows the story of Gus, a half-deer, half-boy hybrid, as he navigates a world devastated by a mysterious illness. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey through their Team Downey banner.
Additionally, the series will be making a few additions to the cast in the forthcoming chapter. Rosalind Chao (“Better Things,” “Mulan”), who plays Zhao, has been upped to a series regular alongside Amy Seimetz (“No Sudden Move,” “Pet Sematary”), who plays Birdie. Cara Gee (“The Expanse,” “Call Of The Wild”) will join for Season 3 as a series regular with Ayazhan Dalabayeva. Gee will star as Siana and Dalabayeva as Nuka.
The news comes just shortly after the release of Season 2, which quickly earned 48.3 million hours viewed during its first four days of release following its April 27 debut.
In addition to Mickle, the series is executive produced by Beth Schwartz, Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr. through their Team Downey banner alongside Evan Moore, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran. Mickle also serves as a director. “Sweet Tooth” is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
