A man who is suspected to have carried out the stabbing that left six people including three children dead at a Kindergarten in Southern China has been arrested, Police said.

According to the report, a 25-year-old man with the surname Wu was arrested in Lianjiang, Guangdong province where the attack took place on Monday morning while parents were bringing their kids to school for summer lessons.

“The victims include one teacher, two parents and three students… and one suspect has been arrested,” an official in the city told AFP.

The BBC said the Chinese police called the attack an “intentional assault” and reported that the police did not explain further why the attack took place.
There have been similar occurrences of stabbing around schools in China.
The BBC stated that it counted at least 17 stabbings in China since 2010, with the latest attack taking place at a Kindergarten in south-eastern Jiangxi province, where three persons were killed and six others injured last year in August.

The BBC also reported that attacks took place in April 2021 and October 2018.

In 2020, a school security officer was accused of injuring 39 people with a knife.

These attacks that gained global attention since 2010 when Zheng Minsheng, stabbed to death eight primary school students and injured many in Fujian province due to issues in his relationship, have not reduced even though the Chinese government have placed measures to curb the menace. Experts have blamed the incessant attacks on grudges and mental health issues.
