“We don’t want obstacles on our ways. We have a game on Sunday to qualify which won’t be easy.
“But we got the quality to execute it. A new coach came on with new strategies but we have to achieve our collective goals and be objective.
“We want to bring our fans back to our side because we know they are understandably disappointed.
“It was disheartening for us when we couldn’t qualify for the World Cup.
Osimhen disclosed that players of the Super Eagles were abused online following the World Cup disappointment but added that he understands the disconnect between them and the supporters.
“We had online abuses. Now it’s behind us but the memories still linger. We will do our best to earn their trust,” Osimhen added.
On media comparisons with African football living legend Didier Drogba, the Nigerian star told the media:
“Drogba is a great striker who I want to emulate and achieve what he did in football or even surpass them.
“Scudtto? Who would have believed that five years ago that I will win it.
Osimhen then had a word of advise for upcoming Nigerian players who hope to reach the milestone he has reached.
“There will be failure, there will be rejections. Not all of them have the kind of mindset I have.
“You don’t have to be from a rich or poor family to achieve what you want to achieve,” the former Lille hitman concluded.
