Super Eagles AFCON Update: Ankle Injury Rules Out Awaziem Of Sudan Clash

Super Eagles interim boss Austin Eguavoen on Friday revealed that versatile defender Chidozie Awaziem will not be part of the game against Sudan tomorrow (Saturday) because of an ankle injury.
Awaziem was not involved in the game against Egypt on Tuesday due to his stricken state.
It was hoped Awaziem would recover in time for the game against Sudan, but speaking ahead of the game, Eguavoen told the media that Awaziem would not feature but is expected to return back to action soon.
“That’s beyond me & only the medics can answer that,” Eguavoen said at the pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
“I know he has an ankle injury & will be back very soon.”
William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo will partner in central defence on Saturday after the latter recovered from am injury setback suffered in the game against Egypt.
Ahead of the crucial match against Sudan, sources in the Super Eagles camp informed that there could likely be a change or two from the starting lineup that faced seven-time champions Egypt with the tweak expected in the attacking department of the team.
The match kicks off 5pm Nigerian time on Saturday evening.
