Stock Market Cap Closes At N34.97trn, Investors Gain N40.9bn

Investors holding shares in Chams, Nascon and other equities on the gainers’ list made over N40.9 billion on Wednesday after the bourse closed at N34.97 trillion market capitalisation.

The stock market capitalisation rose from N34.93 trillion reported on Tuesday.

The All-Share Index gained 75.16 basis points to climb 64,267.36 ASI, from 64,192.2 ASI. 

About 330.78 million shares were traded in 6,251 deals on Wednesday, valued at N4.26 billion. 

Note that the day before, investors exchanged 762.09 million shares in 7,935 deals, worth N7.71 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • Chams’ share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.90 kobo to N0.99 kobo per share.    
  • Nascon grew by N3.25 kobo, up from N35.75 kobo to N32.50 kobo per share.    
  • Abbey ended trading with N1.21 kobo from N1.10 kobo per share, rising by N0.11 kobo.    
  • Skyway Aviation gained N2.55 kobo to end trading at N28.15 kobo, having opened with N25.60 kobo per share.     
  • Dangote Sugar’s stock was up by N2.95 kobo, closing at N32.65 kobo from N29.70 kobo per share.    

Top five losers 

  • TIP depreciated by 10 per cent, dwindling from N0.80 kobo to N0.72 kobo per share.      
  • Thomas Wyatt declined by N0.13 kobo to end trading at N1.17 kobo, after opening at N1.30 kobo per share.      
  • UPL followed the same path, losing N0.27 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N2.49 kobo from N2.76 kobo per share.      
  • Omatek reported a decline of 9.76 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.41 kobo to end trading at N0.37 kobo per share.      
  • John Holt’s share depreciated to N1.63 kobo from N1.80 kobo, after losing N0.17 kobo during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Transcorp reported 58.82 million shares, valued at N209.18 million, were traded on its floor.      
  • FBN Holdings recorded 27.95 million shares valued at N502.75 million.    
  • ETI saw investors trade 21.30 million shares valued at N330.24 million.    
  • Access Corporation recorded 20.69 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N341.78 million.    
  • Chams reported 16.96 million shares, valued at N16.13 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
