Step-by-Step Guide: Applying For Fully-Funded Entrepreneurship Program In Nigeria

The Western Union Foundation Fellowship is offering a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs and community leaders from marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities across the globe. This fully-funded fellowship program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills, experience, and networks to drive economic opportunities and create transformative impact within their communities.

Program Overview

Designed as a virtual and global venture and leadership accelerator, the Western Union Foundation Fellowship seeks to empower individuals who are passionate about entrepreneurship, seeking funding opportunities, mentorship, accelerated leadership skills, and venture impact.

By providing comprehensive support, this program aims to foster economic growth, social change, and sustainable development in marginalized communities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must either be entrepreneurs or community leaders from highly marginalized communities or actively engaged in working with such communities. The program specifically targets early-stage social impact ventures or community initiatives with a proven track record of impact, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Priority will be given to applicants from or working in specific countries, including Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Application Process

Applicants are required to complete an online application, which includes answering four short essay questions. The application process is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes.

The final deadline for submissions is August 18th, 2023. The admissions team will review applications on an ongoing basis, with the first round starting from July 7th, 2023.

It is encouraged to submit applications early, as those received before July 28th will be reviewed by August 14th, while applications received after July 28th will be reviewed by September 7th. Qualified applicants will be invited to a 20-minute Zoom interview, and the most exceptional profiles will undergo a final review by an external admissions committee.

Selected participants will receive invaluable guidance and support from the experienced team at the Watson Institute, focusing on the growth and scalability of their work and impact.

Additionally, fellows will have the opportunity to facilitate an impact workshop and training (called a Basecamp) in their respective communities, engaging with stakeholders and driving positive change.

Furthermore, participants will receive a stipend, playbook, and team support to assist them in their entrepreneurial endeavours, ensuring they have the resources necessary to succeed.
