Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has commended the five teachers from the state School system who emerged winners at the 2022 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award.
The event was held at Eagles Square, Abuja.
In a keenly contested competition, Dr.
Sabina Ijeoma Chukwunedum of Abbot Girls Secondary School Ihiala won the overall best administrator in Nigeria among public junior secondary schools, Mrs. Marilyn Uchenna Ugokwe of SUSU College Nkpor won the best private senior secondary school teacher while Mrs. Eucharia Ikegwuonu of Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi won the junior secondary schools category, as the first runner up.
Mr. Hope Chekwube Ifetike of Government Technical College Onitsha won as first runner up, in the public senior secondary school category. The Federal Government College Onitsha received the best Science Teacher award.
The awardees were presented with a bus, a Kia brand of car, a Salti Lady motorcycle and generating set.
Commending the award recipients, Soludo said, “this is a commendable feat, coincidentally coming at a time when my administration is paying particular attention to teachers and teaching in Anambra schools.
“I’ve always said that if one wants to predict the future of any society, one should look at the quality of teachers and teaching in that society. This is why we are firing on all cylinders, to give Anambra children a future, enabling their global competitiveness. The ongoing rigorous process of recruitment of thousands of teachers in the state give credence to the efforts of my administration in that regard”.

The Governor assured of his administration’s commitment in doing more, to reposition the state’s education sector.
