Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has called on authorities to provide better protection for the Director General, National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, following alleged threats to her life.
Prof. Adeyeye had while speaking at a State House briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, raised the alarm about threats to her life and officials of the agency due to their work which involves cracking down on fake drugs being distributed across the country.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe NAFDAC DG revealed that the agency has intensified enforcement efforts which had resulted in the seizure of about 87 truckloads of banned, expired, and substandard medical products as they raided drug markets. However, this has come with a price, which is threats to the safety of NAFDAC officials.

Adeyeye revealed that there have been kidnapping and assassination attempts on NAFDAC officials and called for better protection as they carry out their jobs under hazardous conditions.
Reacting to NAFDAC DG’s alarm, Sani, who is also a human rights activists, said there is no doubt that the manufacturers of fake drugs and adulterated foods are after the life of the agency’s DG.
He emphasised that those involved in production and distribution of fake and substandard medical products could do anything possible to eliminate her as she has become their “nightmare.”
“NAFDAC BOSS Must be protected; Prof Moji has raised alarm over threats to her life. Without doubt, the manufacturers of fake drugs and adulterated foods are at the center of this,” Sani stated.

‘“She has become their nightmare by courageously and consistently bursting their evil and deadly business and protecting the lives of Nigerians.
“They want to be left alone to produce food and drinks in their backyards that will kill our children.
“Prof Moji has maintained and advanced the Standard set by the late heroine Dora Akunyili. The threat to Prof Moji is a threat to the lives of all Nigerians,” the lawmaker who had represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly stated.
