The name Chidi Mokeme has been re-echoed this past few days. His outstanding performance in the recently released Netflix show, “Shanty Town,” has everyone wondering who he is.

Born on March 17, 1972, Shanty Town’s  Chidi Mokeme is a Nigerian actor and reality show host. He hails from Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, South Eastern Nigeria. He was the host of the Gulder Ultimate Search Reality-show for a couple of years.

His upbringing and early childhood, exposed Shanty Town’s Chidi Mokeme to the many cultures In Nigeria, especially, the major ethnic groups. He had his primary education at the Salvation Army Primary in Surulere, Lagos.

He studied at the Federal Government College in Minna, Niger State, and then continued at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu, where he received a Higher National Diploma in Computer Science. Chidi is a fluent speaker of Hausa, Yoruba, and his native dialect, Igbo, as a result.

He stands out as being multi-talented. Despite his preference for science, he has always had strong passion for acting, and the majority of his pals are students of the Art.

The story is based on a woman who has lost the happiness in her life after getting married and eventually obtains a divorce from her abusive husband.

She then offers voluntary help to other women in the society who also seek to obtain a divorce from their abusive disloyal unfaithful husbands. Shanty Town’s Chidi Mokeme featured as the abusive husband.

’76 (2016)

The story is told from two points of view: that of a young pregnant woman, and that of her husband, a soldier accused of being involved in the failed 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Mohammed, the Head-of-State of Nigeria.

Set six years after the civil war, a young officer from the Middle Belt, Joseph Dewa, gets into a romantic relationship with an O-level student, Suzanne, from the Southeastern region. However, their relationship is strained by constant military postings and Suzanne’s family who constantly complained of not wanting to have anything to do with Joseph’s people. Chidi played the role of Major Gomos.

 

Abuja Connection (2003)

The film reflects on the struggle for Power, Money and how having influential connections in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, can bridge the line between poverty and wealth.
