Sell-off In UACN, Eterna, Others Cost Their Shareholders N26.14 billion

Nigerian bourse lost N26.14 billion in value as the market capitalisation depreciated by -0.08 per cent to N29.51 trillion on Monday, 3 April 2023, from Friday’s N29.54 trillion.

The All-Share Index shed 48 basis points to drop from 54,232.34 ASI to 54,184.34.

On the exchange floor, 292.55 million shares were traded in 4,408 deals on Monday, worth N2.38 billion.

This was against the 557.93 million shares traded on Friday in 3,943 deals valued at N3.68 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • Mansard share appreciated by N0.19kobo to rise from N1.90kobo to N2.09 per share 
  • Lasaco grew by N0.11kobo, up from N1.10kobo to N1.21kobo per share 
  • Nahco ended trading with N8.90kobo from N8.10kobo per share, rising by N0.80kobo. 
  • Ikeja Hotel gained N0.10kono to end trading at N1.32kobo, having opened with N1.22kobo per share. 
  • FTN Cocoa’s stock was up by 7.69 per cent, closing at N0.28kobo from N0.26kobo per share 

Top five losers 

  • SCOA depreciated by N0.10kobo, dwindling from N1 to N0.90kobo per share. 
  • UAC Nigeria also fell by N0.95kobo to end trading at N8.60kobo, after opening with N9.55kobo per share. 
  • Sunu Assurance followed the same path losing 9.62 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.47kobo from N0.52kobo per share. 
  • Eterna reported a decline of N0.65kobo from the previous day’s share price of N6.80kobo to end trading at N6.15kobo per share. 
  • Associated Bus Transport’s share depreciated to N0.34kobo from N0.37kobo, after losing 8.11 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Fidelity Bank reported 79.73 million shares, valued at N426.80 million, were traded on its floor 
  • Transcorp recorded 28.77 million shares valued at N39.87 million
  • UBA saw investors trade 26.81 million of its shares valued at N224.10 million 
  • Access Corp recorded 17.07 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N153.60 million 
  • Oando reported 13.04 million shares, valued at N73.64 million, exchanged investors’ hands
