Largest Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, has distanced itself from a campaign on social media claiming that it is offering 80 per cent discount for flights to selected routes within the country during the Yuletide season.
In a statement released Monday, 16 December, signed by the Air Peace Head of Corporate Communications, Dr Ejike Ndiulo, the airline said a Facebook page operating under the name “Silver Bryan Fran”, which falsely claims to represent Air Peace, has been promoting the offer which it described as “fraudulent.”
The statement clarified that Air Peace did not authorise any such promotional offer or campaign, adding that it is the work of fraudulent individuals attempting to deceive and scam unsuspecting members of the public.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to reports of a fraudulent Facebook page operating under the name “Silver Bryan Fran.” This page falsely claims to represent Air Peace and is promoting an ‘80% off on Selected Routes’ offer.
“The scam involves redirecting individuals to a sponsored post, followed by a series of questionnaires and WhatsApp conversations with a fake representative.
“We wish to categorically state that Air Peace has not authorised any such promotional offer or campaign. This is the work of fraudulent individuals attempting to deceive and exploit unsuspecting members of the public.”
Air Peace advised the general public to disregard such claims coming from a fraudulent social media page.
The airline urged people to visit its official website at www.flyairpeace.com, for authentic information on its promotions.
“At Air Peace, we are committed to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable air travel for all our passengers,” it added.
