Governor Wike urges all citizens to come out en masse to welcome the president-elect and comply with the closure order of shops and businesses along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has made a pronouncement that May 3, 2023, shall be celebrated as a public holiday, with the intention of affording the residents of his state a day off to partake in welcoming Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, who is slated to visit Rivers.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelDuring his announcement, which was broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Wike highlighted that Mr. Tinubu’s visit will span two days, during which he will officially commission the Rumuokwuta-Rumuola flyover and the ultramodern magistrate complex situated in Port Harcourt.
Furthermore, Governor Wike expressed that the visit to Rivers State by the president-elect marks his first appearance in any state since he secured the electoral victory. The governor also noted that Mr. Tinubu will join the ranks of distinguished Nigerians who have been accorded the opportunity to inaugurate landmarks in Rivers.

Governor Wike has called upon the people of Rivers State to join hands in giving the president-elect a grand and enthusiastic welcome during his visit. In his words, “It is an honour to the government and people of Rivers state to host the president-elect on this historic visit. Consequently, I urge all Rivers citizens to come out en mass to receive our president-elect, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and display the traditional Rivers hospitality as he commissions these legacy projects to God’s glory and the advancement of our development.”

To facilitate a smooth visit, Governor Wike has directed that all shops and business premises located along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State shall be closed from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. The governor has also implored all labour unions and security agencies to comply with this order of closure.
