According to initial reports, Rashford was dropped because he publicly hinted a desire for a new challenge, however, it was later reported that the real reason was that the Manchester United manager was unhappy with Rashford’s behaviour before the 4-0 win against Everton on December 1 after allegations surfaced that the England international was out in Manchester on the night of November 29, just over a day before the match.

Manchester United coach, Ruben Amorim, revealed that the reason for Marcus Rashford’s continued absence from the matchday squad is the lack of effort he is seeing in training.

When asked about the England’s International continuous absence from the matchday squad, after United 1-0 victory against Fulham on Sunday, he said he would rather play his goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, instead of Rashford.

“I prefer it like that. I would rather put Vital on than a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day. So I will not change in that department.”

Again, during news conference today, Amorin told reporters that the forward has to change if he is to make it back to the squad. “Our team, you can look at our team and imagine the profile of the players. Now imagine a talent like Rashford,” Amorim told a news conference on Wednesday. “Our team should be so much better with Rashford. But this Rashford, he has to change.

“If he changes, we are more than welcome to put a talent like Rashford [in the squad]. And we need it. But in this moment, I think it’s really clear that we have to set some standards. We are waiting for Marcus, if he wants [to play] really really bad.”

Though the Portuguese denied any rift between him and Rashford. With the Winter transfer window about to close, it remains to be seen whether if Rashford remained to be seen if Rashford stays or not.
