Qatar 2022: Cape Verde Begins Training For Crunch World Cup Qualifier Against Nigeria

THE Cape Verde  national team on Monday began their trainings ahead of Tuesday’s make- or- mar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria at the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos.

The Blue Sharks have 10 points, two places adrift of the Super Eagles on 12 points heading into this clash after they overcame Central Africa Republic 2-1 to enhance their chances of reaching the playoff stages.
Nigeria’s guests departed Mindelo on Sunday afternoon and landed at the Murtala Muhammed International airport after a four-hour trip.
The Super Eagles defeated Cape Verde 2-1 in the first leg fixture between the teams courtesy of goals from Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and an own goal from Garry Mendes Rodrigues.

CAF has announced Algeria’s Mustapha Ghorbal as the centre referee for Tuesday’s match, while he will be assisted by compatriots Mokrane Gourari, Abbes Akram Zerhouni and Lahlou Benbrahm.

 

 

The referee assessor is Cote d’Ivoire’s Noumandiez Desire Doue with Sierra Leone’s Prince Kai Saquee appointed as match commissioner.

 

The match kicks off at 5pm Nigerian time.
