Shock, condolences and prayers are being expressed in torrents for Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, following the passing of his mother barely two months after he lost the father.
Nwabali, who was in excellent shape for the Super Eagles at the last AFCON in Cote d Ivoire where the Eagles finished second best, lost his father about 46 days ago during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

Unfortunately, less than two months after the death of his father, the mother has also passed on, leaving 28-year-old Stanley not only as an orphan but in grief at the moment.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and several other Nigerians have expressed heartfelt condolences over the incident with many praying God to grant the Goalkeeper the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss losses.
Taking to X, formerly twitter, whose owner Elon Musk has controversially changed his name on X to Kekius Maximus, the NFF @thenff said “Our heartfelt condolences to Stanley Nwabali on the loss of his mother. Stay strong, Stanley. sending you strength and support during this difficult time. You are not alone; we are all with you”
Nwabali had shared the sad news of his mother’s death on X Wednesday evening, saying “Rip mom,” “worst year of my life already “.
Before that, Nwabali had posted, “A very very crazy world indeed.”
The mood changing post incidentally came just hours after he shared a 2024 recap video, expressing optimism for the New Year.

Soccer fans from far and near have sent in their condolences and prayers as Nwabali battles his current challenging situation.

Stanley Nwabali’s recent outing for Chippa United was against Kaizer Chiefs which ended by a lone goal in favour of Kaizer Chiefs and was an impressive outing despite the defeat as the Nigeria international made five saves in the course of the match.
