Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d Or winner is on the verge of being honoured by Portugal with the launch of Euro Coin which will now be part of the country’s currency.

This is just as “Celebrate Me”, a Hit song by Nigerian Afrobeat and Reggae singer, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly called Patoranking, is resonating in faraway Portugal and in the life of multiple award winning soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The new “7” Euro coin is to being floated in honour of Ronaldo as the nation’s greatest sportsman. The 39 year old in the course of his 22 years football career has been in superlative form for both clubs and country. He has scored 130 goals for his national team with numerous accolades, including leading Portugal to a historic victory in Euro 2016 and lifting the UEFA Nations League trophy with A Selecao in 2019.

Recently, the four-time European Golden Shoe winner’s star scored his 900th goal through a “super kick” during a UEFA Nations League fixture against Scotland to make record as the first football player to hit that record.

The coin will feature an image of the 2008 world footballer of the year with his popular signature identity “CR7” embossed on it and will be legal tender across the nation.

Reflecting on his shirt number seven, the coin is named Euro “7”.

Ronaldo who broke the internet with the launch of his YouTube channel dubbed  “UR”, that recorded 20million subscribers within 24 hours and now sitting at 51million subscribers since the launch has continued to accumulate accolades, breaking records and counting despite his age.

The Al-Nassr striker won practically all that needs to be won. The only trophy to crown it would be the world cup and he doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to retire before the 2026 World Cup in USA and Canada.
