PGA Professional Qualification Thrills Ex-Eagles Odemwingie

Former Super Eagles striker, Peter Osaze Odemwingie, is in celebration mood after bagging qualification as PGA professional.

Odemwingie who retired from active football about six years ago, described his qualification as heartwarming, adding that he is proud of himself to have achieved that. He fell in love with the game and had to play a lot of amateur pro-Am that eventually paid off.

“I am now a PGA professional and I am really proud of myself and my friends who also graduated. It’s been a long journey, I fell in love with the game and played a lot of amateur pro -am and coming from a football background and now this is a different sports. I am excited,” he enthused. He described the PGA as a family and provides a lot of learning opportunities.

Odemwingie who made 65 appearances for the Super Eagles with 11 goals to his credit played for ten different clubs including Bendel Insurance, Locomotive Moscow and West Brom in the course of his soccer career. He scored a record 30 premier league goals for West Brom and also played for Cardiff and Stoke City. He Played in two World Cups and even won an Olympic medal in 2008.

In embracing golf, Odemwingie will be joining the league of footballers who have ventured into other sports including golf.

Recently, Wales Captain and Real Madrid forward, Gareth Bale, went fully into Golf, a game he has always loved even while playing football.

Odemwingie was born to a Nigerian father and a Russian  mother.
