PETROL distribution in Nigeria reduced by 132,301,071 litres in August 2021, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) report revealed.
General Manager, Corporate Services, PPPRA, Kimchi Apollo, said in a statement that total of 1,735,624,740 (approximately 1.74 billion) litres of petrol also known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was distributed nationwide.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelApollo stated that when compared to the 1,867,925,811 litres supplied in the month of July, it indicated a decrease of about 132,301,071 litres.
He however, said, “It is important to note that the decline in the volume of PMS supplied in the month of August does not in any way translate to product scarcity.”
He explained that the 1.74 billion litres of petrol consumption in August indicated an average daily supply of about 55.99 million litres.
He also stated that the total truck-out volume for PMS in the month under review was 1.79 billion litres, adding that the average truck-out volume of PMS was therefore, 57.58 million litres per day.
The agency’s data also revealed that 100 per cent of PMS distributed in the month under review was imported by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
It also stated that the country had an average PMS Days Sufficiency of 33 days.
The agency promised to continue monitoring the supply of petroleum products and advice concerned stakeholders on the need to ensure consistent distribution to avoid scarcity.
