Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, has restated his quest to transform the state in all fronts including building an industrial hub with steady power supply, renewable energy and other infrastructural facilities.
Otti stated this on Friday when he inaugurated a 100-member transition council in Aba, the commercial nerve-centre of the Southeast state.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelOtti, who won the election on the platforn of the Labour Party, stated that his intention is to run a government that would create opportunities for economic activities to thrive in the state.
He said the tasked of the transition council to produce a policy document that would forge a direction and developmental agenda for Abia State, in line with his vision for the state and campaign promises.
The veteran banker and economic expert, noted that the choice of Aba for the inauguration of the council was strategic as well as significant with the Enyimba city being the centrepiece of the incoming administration’s economic and infrastructural development plan.
“We intend to run a slim government in terms of political appointments, but then it is our intention to create enough opportunity for businesses to thrive and succeed in the State.
“We have chosen Aba for this inauguration today because Aba is the heartbeat of Abia’s economy despite the fact that it has been abandoned for many years by successive administrations.
“We want to build an industrial hub with steady power supply, renewable energy and other solid infrastructures for the economy of the state to grow.”
Otti explained that members of the council were chosen based on their experise and wealth of experience because of the need for a strong foundation to be laid for the rescue and development of the state.
“I wish to thank the very distinguished technocrats, professionals and other eminent Nigerians who have accepted to serve in this council.
“We have great resources coming out of Abia, and I feel now is the time to put them to good use,” Otti said.
On his part, chairman of the council, Victor Onyenkpa, who spoke on behalf of others said the task before the committee is to produce a road map that would help Otti to meet up with the expectation of the residents of the State, adding that the committee members have accepted to do the job, despite the enormous challenges that came with the acceptance.
“Alex Otti, is expected to perform a miracle concerning the transformation of Abia State and our Job is to give him a road map that would help him to perform that miracle,” Onyenkpa stated.
