Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has put pen to paper on an improved contract with Serie A champions SS Napoli until the summer of 2026.

The Nigerian marksman who few weeks ago had a running battle with the club over a tacky social media post after he lost a penalty in a league game and reported to be mulling a move away from Naples has a clause inserted in his contract said to be in the region of $130-$140 million.

However, despite interests in his signature from a number of teams across Europe, the Nigeria international who last summer turned down a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League will not depart from the Diego Maradona stadium in January but could yet leave next summer if any of his suitors meet the release clause.

Napoli’s social media handles reported the contract situation with the caption: “together until 2026” and a picture of Osimhen and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

African Footballer of The Year award winner for 2023, Osimhen, scored 31 goals in all competitions last season (26 in the Serie A) to help his club secure the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and Chlesea as well as a number of clubs in the Saudi Arabian league notably Al Hilal are keen to snap up the former Werder Bremen and Lille star.
