Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has voted in the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for the election, cast his ballot at Unit 5, Ward 4, Obenla, in Ilaje local government area of the state.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelIn an interview with newsmen after exercising his franchise, the governor said the exercise has been peaceful so far and expressed optimism about the seamless conduct of the electoral process.
While commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the exercise so far, Aiyedatiwa urged the electoral body to ensure that all eligible voters are granted a fair opportunity to exercise their democratic rights.

The governor boasted that Ondo State is still one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria and commended the security operatives for their skilful management of possible threats in the electoral process.
He expressed his confidence in the result, asserting that voters would be moved by his administration’s accomplishments over the last ten months and dedication to the people of Ondo State.
“We are peaceful people in Ondo State. The state has been adjudged as one of the most safest and peaceful states in Nigeria. We have been having our elections in a peaceful environment and this very one will not be different,” the governor stated in an interview with journalists after voting.
“I believe the election will be very peaceful and credible. I went through the whole process including accreditation before casting my vote and I believe that INEC officials will be the same at all polling locations. So, I want to believe that the process will be very transparent, credible, and conclusive at the end of the day.”
The governor further stated that with the huge turnout during his campaigns, there will be a corresponding large turnout of voters today.
No fewer than 17 political parties, as confirmed by INEC, are participating in the 16 November governorship election taking place across the 18 local government areas in the South-west state.
