Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, will spend additional four days in police custody as the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Thursday granted an application for an extension of his remand.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Olatubosun, extended Kuti’s remand until May 22.

Seun upon invitation over the matter, reported at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, to see the State Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa. He was subsequently arrested and moved to the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Yaba.

Prime Business Africa reports that Kuti is charged with assaulting a police officer.
He was on Tuesday granted bail by Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who, however, directed that he be remanded while police conclude their investigation within 48 hours.
However, Mr Simon Lough (SAN), who led a police legal team to the court, file an application for the extension of Seun Kuti’s remand to allow further investigation into the case.
Magistrate Adeola had adjourned the case until May 22 for mention and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward a copy to the state director of public prosecutions for advice.
