Igbo socio-political group, the Nzuko Umunna Wednesday morning expressed concern over the destruction of the country home of Ohaneze President Prof George Obiozor on March 19, 2022 by unknown persons.

Executive Secretary of the Nzuko Umunna, Mr Ngozi Odumuko, in a statement made available to Prime Business Africa, said the group is worried  about the violence in AlaIgbo and called on state governors to be proactive in fighting crimes in the Southeast.

According to Odumuko, ‘’The Nzuko Umunna is deeply shocked that governments at national and sub-national levels have done very little in terms of investigating the true cause and trigger of violence in the Southeast region with a view to resolving it.’’

The grouped said they shared the plight of the Ohaneze  leader Prof Obiozor and are solidly behind  him in this time of trial, even as it reassured Prof Obiozor that the Nzuko Umunna would continue to support all efforts to rid the region of external and internal pollution and adulteration of the very core values for which the people of Alaigbo are known.

Mr Odumuko noted that it recognised all the responsive actions of representatives of Igbo Archbishops and Bishops in conjunction with traditional rulers in the Southeast to rid AlaIgbo of the new wave of violence and encourage a return of true leadership.

The Nzuko Umunna observed with satisfaction the victory and subsequent swearing in of Professor Chukwuma Soliudo as Governor of Anambra State, noting that the feat marks a turning point in Nigeria’s political history.

It called on all Nigerians to support leadership of the sort exemplified by Prof Soludo who in less than one week of assuming office, has shown strong sense of direction.

‘’To Professor Obiozor, once again, we express profound sympathy to you for  this unfortunate incident which your good self does not deserve.

We, therefore call on the Imo State Government and the Federal Government to launch an unbiased investigation and track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

”This is one attack too many for Nigerians to stomach. Those who trade on blood and destruction must be told that the law is there to punish and to reward.’

”We pray that the Almighty God will replenish whatever sweat you have lost for the reason of this attack on your home and property.”
