Vice-Chairman of Nigerian Railway Workers(NRC) Port Harcourt Branch, Chika Njoku has appealed to all security agencies in the country to help nab miscreants who vandalise the rail tracks around the Elelenwo axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Njoku explained that this criminal activity has been perpetrated on more than three occasions, where suspected hoodlums have stolen and destroyed railway facilities in Port Harcourt.

According to him “there have been complaints of vandalisation and theft of rail tracks and other facilities at the rail lines in recent times, but the latest is that which happened on Sunday, at the Elelenwo axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.”

Njoku noted the latest incident was the fourth in recent times and expressed sadness over it stating that whenever the stolen and destroyed facilities were replaced, the miscreants would strike again.

He said, “we have been trying to collaborate with the communities and chiefs just to ensure that things like this do not occur again, alas we are here again. I don’t know what is actually happening.

“Fix it today, tomorrow they will vandalise. We are not finding it funny at all. That Elelenwo axis, nobody knows who they are and we can really tell what is happening

“Security agencies should please wade in and help us put an end to this situation, and whosoever is caught should be made to face the music,” Njoku, said.
