NPFL: Kano Pillars, Tornadoes To Thrill Fans in Northern Derby

The Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano will be venue for the showdown as Kano pillars host Niger Tornadoes in what promises to be an explosive Northern derby today.

Pillars will be hoping to return to winning was after earning just one victory in the last five matches. The remaining for matches had seen the team pull two draws against Heartland and Lobi Stars and then losing two matches against table toppers Rivers United and shooting stars respectively.

Pillars fans are sure to turn out in their numbers even as Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa continues to shine for the club.

Musa who missed two matches due to a knock, is reportedly back on track and will be in contention today against Tornadoes.

His last appearance for Pillars was in their 1-0 defeat against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on December 1.

He missed the Northwest derby against Katsina United a week later in Kano and also sat out their 2-0 defeat against 3SC in Ibadan.

Kano Pillars coach, Usman Abdallah has however confirmed that former Leicester City and Al-Nassr star who has scored five goals for Pillars this season is fit and good to go.

Visting Tornadoes are placed 7th on the league table three places better than hosts Pillars who are currently 10th on the log.

Other matches lined up for today will see Sunshine Stars of Akure welcome El-kanemi Warriors, while Bendel Insurance will slug it out against Lobi Stars.

The bulk of the matches this weekend have been reserved for Sunday with some interesting fixtures on the card. Nasarawa United host Rivers United, Enyimba will be guests to Plateau United while reigning champions Rangers entertain Shooting Stars and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
