According to a statement signed by Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), the party stakeholders at the meeting where issue about the emergence of Shettima as running mate of Tinubu was raised, resolved to work for unity of party members and stronger commitment to ensure victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Prime Business Africa had gathered that there were permutations that APC stakeholders in the North-west did not support the emergence of Shettima as Tinubu’s Running mate because they were pushing for the slot to be zoned to the region, but after reconciliatory gestures and meetings, they resolved to rally behind the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the party to win in the 2023.
Mada further stated that the APC stakeholders also discussed issues about how the Zone should position itself in bringing victory to the party at all levels.
They also discussed issues about ongoing voter registration and observed that the exercise has been very slow in the region due to poor “capturing systems which results to the poor outcome recorded by the geographical Zone.”
Lukman informed the stakeholders that all issues they have raised during the interaction would be reflected in his report at the end of the tour for proper documentation and action.
Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi thanked Salihu Lukman led party officials for visiting the state for a fact finding mission.
Umar Namadi who is the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, enumerated measures taken to strengthen the party in the state. “The measures includes among other things, establishment of reconciliation committee which is saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to aggrieved party members for reconciliation.”
According to him, “another committee established by the Jigawa State Government is that of the voter registrations which is charged with the responsibility of ensuring a success of the exercise in the state.”
The fact-finding tour of the seven states in North-west, began in Kebbi State on Monday 4th July, 2022, with the goal of consolidating the party’s areas of strength and re-strategizing to break new grounds for the party in areas it is considered weak.
