Ever heard of the submission “Naija no dey carry last?” Well that submission came to the fore, as Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okalanwon, celebrated the birthday of the Emperor of Japan Naruhito.
He did not only join in marking the birthday of the Emperor who acceded the throne 1st May, 2019 as the 126th Monarch according to Japan’s traditional order of succession, he also did it in style, delivering his message in flawless Japanese language.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelTaking to his Instagram, the actor and film producer, currently filming in the country’s capital, Tokyo, shared a video of himself speaking Japanese while encouraging Nigerians to join him in celebrating the Emperor.
Expressing his appreciation for the friendship between Nigeria and Japan, he extended his best wishes to the Emperor.
He wrote: “Fellow Nigerians, today I invite you to join me and the people of Japan in celebrating the birthday of His Majesty, The Emperor of Japan—a symbol of unity, tradition, and peace. As a proud Nigerian embracing the warmth and rich culture of Japan, I deeply appreciate the spirit of friendship between our nations. May this special occasion bring blessings of prosperity and harmony to the people of Japan. Happy Birthday, Your Majesty!

The Chemical Engineer turned actor and film producer, also added colour to the event by observing the traditional bow wearing the paraphernalia that goes with the Japanese tradition.

Deyemi Okalanwon who made the bold decision to focus on acting full-time in 2013, has since then, appeared in over 50 films, TV series, theatre productions, music videos, and commercials. His work has earned him nominations and awards from such as the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA), Ghana Movie Awards (GMA), BON, In-Short, and City People awards just to mention a few. Some of the films he featured in, include “If tomorrow Never comes”, “its About Your Husband” and Domino effect.
