Supports Senator Ndume on military contractors to wipe off terrorists
Even as terrorism mastermind Bello Turji continues to evade capture of decapitation by the armed forces of Nigeria for many years now, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has been reminded of his solemn promise that the days of Terrorists leader Bello Turji are numbered.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelMaking the case for realistic actualisation of the promise made by the Chief of Defence Staff, a civil society organisation, the Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria (HURIWA), has tasked the Defence Chief that he must ensure that his solemn words do not pass as mere political and media theatrical speech.
Besides,HURIWA has fully thrown her weight to the recent advocacy for the immediate hiring of military contractors from overseas such as freelance armed fighters based in South Africa or the United States of America to come in aide of the Armed Forces of Nigeria so as to clinically and thoroughly decapitate, degrade, destroy and complete the job of total defeat of the terrorists of all ramifications in the country including Boko Haram terrorists, armed herders in the North West and terrorists bandits in North Central of Nigeria, within a definitive timeline.

HURIWA stated that nearly a month ago, the chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa said that time is ticking against notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji and other terrorists as troops are committed to ending insecurity in Zamfara and the North West Zone.
The defence chief stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
He also announced the killing of Kachalla Halilu Sububu a bandit leader operating in Western Zamfara as another success by the troops.
The bandit leader was killed in Kwaren Kirya, a community in Maru local government area.
General Christopher added that a joint military theatre operation code-named ‘Operation Fansar Yamma Northwest’ will be established to tackle the spread of Insecurity in the region.

HURIWA which called on General Christopher Gwabin Musa and soldiers waging the war on terrorism in Nigeria not to relent, however reminded the top military General in Nigeria that Nigerians are eagerly awaiting practical and timely results from his categorical statement regarding the potential of his combatants bringing justice to one of Nigeria’s deadliest mass killer and terrorists mastermind Bello Turji of Zamfara State.
The Human Rights organisation is of the position that the terrorists mastermind Bello Turji has continued to evade capture and is bold enough to keep releasing video recorded speeches from his dungeons even weeks after Nigerians were told with considerable confidence by the Chiefs of Defence Staff that the days of this same chieftain of the North West based terrorists Bello Turji, are numbered. “We think that by now, we should have been presented with the pragmatic and physical evidence of the solemn promise made by General Christopher Gwabin Musa. So we the people of Nigeria are demanding from the military the straightforward question: where is Bello Turji?”
In a media statement by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA said: “When a fully decorated military General says that the days of Nigeria’s deadliest terrorists leader are numbered, the impression Nigerians got, was that this dangerous terrorist is already within the reach of the combatants who are hunting these mass murderers. Nigerians are therefore wondering for how long are the days of Terrorists kingpin Bello Turji numbered as emphasised by no other person but the top most head of the armed forces of Nigeria. It is getting to a month but yet, we the people of Nigeria who received the assurances made by General Christopher Gwabin Musa that the days of Bello Turji are numbered with a groundswell of expectations, have yet to see the practical outcome of this massive and solemn promise of the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa. Mr. General, sir, we the people of Nigeria are actively looking forward to hearing the result from you and not another mere words because we believe that military fighters are people of actions and do not engage in political sweet talks or media theatrics.”
Speaking about military contractors to enlist in the war on terrorism in Nigeria, HURIWA endorsed the idea just as the Rights group recalled that former Senate Majority Leader, Mohammed Ali Ndume, had charged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to hire the services of military contractors to wipe out the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
Ndume, who hailed the gallant performance of the military and Civilian JTF, said they’re ill-equipped to carry out the task of eliminating the remaining insurgents who operate within.
He said the superpowers of the world hired military contractors to aid them in their warfare. He listed the United States of America, Russia, the United Kingdom, and France, among others, as countries that often engage the services of military contractors.
“All across the world, governments hire the services of military contractors to engage in certain places. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can consider this as a short-term measure. These contractors will work with our military and Civilian JTF, who understand the terrain.
“These contractors will come with their equipment and military hardware. In a very short time, they’ll eliminate those Boko Haram terrorists. The contractors can also be used to eliminate those bandits operating in the North West.
“Over time, the Federal Government can recruit youths to join the military and raise the number to at least one million. But in the interim, I think the President should consider this option of hiring military contractors,” Ndume, who is currently away in Benin Republic for an ECOWAS Parliament engagement, stated this in a telephone conversation.
The body recalled with consternation that dare devil Boko Haram terrorists, last Monday in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, launched a fresh attack that resulted in the slaughter of six farmers and the abduction of five, including women.

During the attack, the commander of Civilian JTF in the area, Jubril Dada Zarana, was killed by the terrorists. No military personnel died, though they tried unsuccessfully to repel the attackers.
HURIWA therefore believes that the hiring of private military contractors to wipe out terrorists in Nigeria is the best thing that can be done since it is clear that the war on terror has dragged on for far too long in Nigeria just as it is a thing of sadness that farmers aren’t been allowed by terrorists to engage in the legitimate business even as massive hunger, starvation threatens the lives of millions of Nigerians.
