Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen might be one of the stars of the European Super League if Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis gets his way, reports Prime Business Africa.
The increasingly unpopular idea of a European Super League has been widely rejected by most of Europe’s elite clubs despite the European Court of Justice ruling in favour of the body planning to organise it, but not all clubs are uninterested in the project.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelSpeaking to Corriere Dello Sport, de Laurentiis said: “I spoke to Florentino Perez and we agree on meeting with other entrepreneurs to discuss about future plans. Football is being managed by old people with no vision.”
Currently, only Barcelona and Real Madrid are in favour of the ESL, with former founding members Juventus also distancing themselves from the project following their capital gains troubles.
It is also reported in some sections of foreign media that clubs like PSV, Feyenoord (both Netherlands), Benfica, Porto (both Portugal), the Italian clubs, Red Star (Czech Republic), and Anderlecht (Belgium) are some of the clubs who have accepted the new Super League.
They ostensibly see this as a massive opportunity to leave their financial problems away and be back to their best.
