Nigerian Government has declared Wednesday 25th, and Thursday 26th December 2024, as public holidays for celebration of Christmas and Boxing Day.
The government also declared Wednesday 1st January 2025 a public holiday to mark the New Year.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelA statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, said the minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
It said the minister extended warm greetings to all Nigerians, urging them to use the festive period to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season signifies.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasised that the season is a time to promote harmony and strengthen ties between families and communities.
The minister also urged Nigerians to continue to be dedicated to the country’s peace, unity, and advancement for the sake of national development.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo said.” As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he admonished.
He assured citizens of the Federal Government’s continued commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country.
Extending his warm wishes of a joyous Christmas and a successful 2025 to Nigerians, the minister conveyed his belief that President Tinubu Administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda will bring about a better and more prosperous economy that will be the envy of the world in the coming year.
