Niger Coup: Thousands Protest Outside French Embassy In Solidarity For Military

Thousands of Nigerien protesters gathered outside the French embassy in Niamey on Sunday in solidarity for the new military junta.

AFP reports that the protest comes after Paris suspended aid over the coup. Protesters were seen trying to enter the building.

Some demonstrators ripped off and stamped on a plaque bearing the words “Embassy of France in Niger”, replacing it with Niger and Russian flags, while others shouted, “Long live Russia”, “Long live Putin” and “Down with France.”
