There has been enormous pressure on Super Eagles interim coach Austin. Eguavoen from players’ agents whose clients are hoping to be part of the team since his appointment, according to the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick.
Eguavoen will be in charge of the team to Cameroon for the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations before New foreign coach Jose Peseiro takes over.
Pinnick made this disclosure in an interview with a Lagos based television station.
“Ask Eguavoen, the last three weeks he was announced as Super Eagles interim coach, the kind of pressure and distractions he is getting from Nigerians, especially with the so called agents.
In an apparent bid to win over the confidence of Nigerians over the appointment of Peseiro, Pinnick insists such pressure will not be mounted on a foreign coach.
“You can’t try that with a foreign coach,” he said.
“As Nigerian, as him. The kind of pressure. ‘Oh, Eguavoen, this is an opportunity oo…’ you know Nigerians
“Eguavoen is somebody that is level headed. In that area, you can call him egg head.”
