New Comer Mbappe Is Third Highest Paid Player In La Liga

France international and Real Madrid new man, Kylian Mbappe, is the third highest paid player in the La Liga following his unveiling at the Santiago Bernabéu, it has been revealed.

Mbappe who had unimpressive run at the recently concluded Euro 2024 championship, Prime Business Africa reports  had to take pay cut to join his dream club Real Madrid from Ligue 1 giants PSG.

The arrival of the World Cup winner has changed the ranking of highest paid players in Spain.

Mbappe was the highest-paid footballer in the French Ligue 1 taking a whopping €6 million per month, that however leaves him with an after-tax monthly salary of €2.7 million before he decided not to renew his contract.

Despite accepting a pay cut to join Real Madrid, Mbappe remains the highest-paid footballer in Real Madrid and third highest paid in the La Liga and his contract entails that there will be a gradual increment in his salary.

Currently, FC Barcelona and Dutch forward, Frenkie De Jong is the highest-paid footballer in the league, above second-placed, Robert Lewandowski of Poland and FC Barcelona.

David Alaba of Real Madrid and Austria, and Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and Slovenian goalkeeper complete the top five. But with the coming of Mbappe, Nigeria born Austria international, David Alaba and Jan Oblak, have moved a step down to create space for Mbappe in the third position in the latest ranking.

The 2024–25 La Liga season which is the 94th season in the series kicks off August 15, with defending reigning champions Real Madrid opening campaign against Real Mallorca August 18 at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
